Need to know if your authority could support a cycle hire scheme, and if so where to locate it? These are exactly the questions that the London Borough of Havering selected TI to answer as part of their Biking Borough programme.
In partnership with London consultants “Rethinking Cities” TI has been given the task of investigating how feasible it would be to establish a bike hire scheme in the Borough. The council has an open mind to the type of scheme and its potential location and is relying on our expertise to supply an answer. TI has previously participated in the OBIS (Optimising Bike Sharing in European Cities) project analysing bike sharing schemes around the world and also worked with authorities. This experience was vital in securing the Havering contract which will be completed by the end of January 2012.
Havering is one of 11 outer London boroughs selected to receive funding as part of the Mayor’s Biking Borough programme. All of these have been asked to look at the feasibility of creating “Bike Hubs” with associated cycle hire as a possible feature of these. TI has created its own unique assessment methodology for potential “bike hub” locations. This is applicable to any location in the UK, so if you are considering creating a bike hub, why not give us a call to see how we can help.
